About the Role

To further support our growth, we are looking for a director of data and business intelligence to help us make better business decisions using information from our available data. Someone who will gather and prepare data from multiple sources, run statistical analyses, and communicate findings in a clear and objective way, also closely work with the entire company, opening our eyes to the data and what we should be doing as per the data. You’ll be involved in product development; you get a say in why we should design any feature and what we should develop to grow our business the most scalable way! We have assembled a high-performing team at DirectShifts, but we need to add more great employees as we scale rapidly.

We are looking for a dynamic individual who is able to read between the lines, find data points that exists & doesn’t! You will be contributing to product development through your inputs based on the data.

We are looking for a candidate who is strong at both building out process and also rolling up their sleeves to implement the same so that we can efficiently and effectively our business.

About What You’ll Be Doing

• Understanding the business requirements so as to formulate the problems to solve and restrict the slice of data to be explored.

• Collecting data from various sources.

• Performing cleansing, processing, and validation on the data subject to analyze, in order to ensure its quality

• Exploring and visualizing data

• Performing statistical analysis and experiments to derive business insights

• Clearly communicating the findings from the analysis to turn information into something actionable through reports, dashboards, and/or presentations

About You

• BA or BS in data, business management, or similar field

• 5+ years’ experience solving problems in the project’s business domain.

• Experience with data integration from multiple sources (Experience with Metabase is a plus)

• Proficiency in MySQL, Google Analytics, Excel/Google sheets

• Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB and Cassandra

• Experience with popular statistical and machine learning techniques, such as clustering, linear regression, KNN, decision trees, etc.

• Good scripting skills (Better if you know coding. Great if you know Ruby on Rails!)

• Proficiency in at least one data visualization tool, such as Matplotlib, Plotly, D3.js, ggplot, etc.

• Experience with BI tools such as Metabase, Tableau and Power BI

• Great communication skills.
