I don’t believe in overtime for healthcare workers. Medical errors have been reported millions of times due to job fatigue and foggy brains in healthcare workers who work 12 hr shifts. Should go back to the normal 8-hrs shifts. It is dangerous and risky. Patients are in constant danger of overdose in hospitals by tired nurses.

There's no such a thing as mandatory overtime in the United States that's called slavery these people can go to hell I would quit before they made me have mandatory overtime. Now the plan would be to offer all these shifts to people who are willing to do so but mandatory overtime is nothing more than slavery.

Mandatory overtime is UNFAIR. The reason is that burn out is the major factor for shortage of Nurses. I grew up in New York and there was never more than 8 hours scheduled for Skilled Nursing Home Long Term Care because of the nature of the assignments and the special daily/shift needs of the elderly residents. This includes total patient care per nurse for at least 30 residents in the day shift, more in the evening and even more during the night shift. Routine assignment include several med pass, treatment as needed, contacting physicians and family members, required documentations: (clinical assessment for any change in condition per shift or Doctor's visit, weekly notes and monthly summary)

I worked full time , 12h shifts but I don't think mandatory overtime is fair. Throughout the years there were always those nurses that wanted to work overtime, which was great. I worked 44 years and if my department was needing help I would help if able. We also have so many mandatory meetings and classes that interrupt our time off already. This profession was definitely a calling but it was not my whole life. It's all about balance so no mandatory overtime for me!!!

I’m a contract worker. If there was mandatory OT, I would be in heaven.

I have been a nurse for 41 years. I have never experienced mandatory overtime. This must be a union hospital. This doesn't happen in Florida.
