Dealing with multiple electronic medical records and the overly redundant documentation. Just to satisfy all the coding regulation.

Excessive, redundant charting in the acute care/hospital setting. Should be an acceptable rule to chart by exception.

In substance use disorder, ASAM is evaluated and best practice says that you have to have a treatment goal for every problem in ASAM. Then every session should be linked to at least one treatment goals so when you have a group of 8 to 12 people, the brain has to always be thinking of how do I get a goal that is specific measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely for every single client in every single session. It’s absolutely ludicrous and promotes nothing of real value.

I love treatment plans and I love using treatment goals and having that to reflect on for the client, but I love it for me. Not for the rest of the world. I use it but I use it my way and it pisses me off if they tell us how we have to do our jobs.

Y'all. I just struggle with treatment plans. I spend more time on that than a note.

Marketing, mostly because it’s inconsistent and hard to measure.

It’s not just “getting listed.” It’s updating profiles, responding to inquiries quickly, tracking where leads are coming from, adjusting messaging, asking for reviews, keeping everything aligned across platforms. When that’s fragmented, it eats time and still feels unpredictable.

A lot of clinicians underestimate how much trust-building happens before someone ever reaches out, they’re checking multiple directories, your website, Google, maybe insurance listings. If messaging or info doesn’t align, conversions drop quietly.

The bigger issue is usually lack of a clear, repeatable visibility system.
